you’re doing it wrong

I have a LOT of problems pronouncing the Dutch word for happy (gelukkig). I’ve been trying since New Year’s Eve 2010. Chiefly, because in English we do not have the guttural CH- sound that is required in Dutch…for pretty much every word. Go here and then press listen.

Sounds easy to pronounce, right? NOT. Trying to say it right over and over makes me and M laugh a lot, but it is seriously a tongue-twister to me.

So, today on on of our many road trips I said, “If you don’t bring up phlegm when you’re speaking…it’s not Dutch.” M said that’s true.
